Cheap Manhattan 50

J

Could the price reflect where it is? You would need big bladder tanks to get her on her own bottom to Lisbon.

If its a good un ,
Leave it there for a season or two ideal for a retired couple .
Then when familiar with it and how things are done in the Azores re boat transport - move it .

On its own bum 10 knots D speed will be 3 1/2 days none stop approx .
You just need to hire / buy an extra temp tank to sit in the cockpit of about 1000 L - in case .
I reckon 3200 L should do it in all .@ 40/45 L / hrs @ 10 knots ish .

Yikes. Or just pay someone £20k or whatever to stick it on a ship.

€200k for an 12yr old 50 footer in the middle of the Atlantic sounds quite strong to me!

Google says 885 miles to Lisbon
...
After the Independence thread anything is possible!
I'd rather head to Madeira (500 odd Nm), which btw is very nice, and then another 500 or so to Faro.
With proper weather forecasts (which in the Atlantic can be even more reliable than in the Med), that might be a walk in the park compared to Independence coastal cruising...

Just checked on Netpas Distance, it's 793m to Lisbon and 568m to Madeira.....2.37 days @10kt's

Just checked on Netpas Distance, it's [...] 568m to Madeira
Well, sounds like a good reason for not using Netpas, then - unless for some reason you prefer to start the passage from the most remote Azores island, rather than the closer one.
I mentioned 500 by heart before but now I checked and it's almost exactly 480Nm from Vila do Porto to Funchal.
And just about the same from Funchal to Sagres (which is a bit closer than Faro, along the S Portugal coast).

Wearing a rag / stick hat which I still have somewhere :) 2/3 days @ 10 knots is normal boat usage , arranging “watches “ part n parcel .

My Naples - Cannes Del trip is approx 400 Miles - just flew in - arrived 3pm - supermarket- fuel - up @ 5am - turned the keys ,slipped the lines - pointed N - Ok we refuelled and overnighted - cos we could .

As it happened we had arranged a IT del skipper ,a young lad 25 y old iirc ? - who was a friend of the broker - Aside I had been round Elba / N Corsica in the previous boat .

My mate I took a serious sailor - Gib to Durban not stop .Durban - Perth ( Oz) - 6/10 week passages - so for him it’s really was a walk in the park .

I know of a guy who wanted to move his yacht from the Azores to Gib .
Him and his son .Son was @ uni and invited a gang of mates for a boys jolly - some never sailed - took about a week ,5 of them in all .- July .

Also I,am aware of a guy on a Itama forum who bought a Itama 40 in Athens and via the Corinth Canal with his dad just set off N to La Sepzia Italy - in March - straights of Messina and all .

Without sounding corny I think a Del trip is kinda a one off right of passage , you HAVE to get to know your boat .

But you do need time ( which a lot of folks working can,t manage ? ) and bit of luck weather wise + € for fuel if a mobo .The fuel € are of course factored in the price .

Another scam I'm afraid. On at 410K https://www.theyachtmarket.com/boats_for_sale/1505983/
Pictures are definitely Vilamoura, Portugal and not the Azores.

I don,t follow you ? The logic ?
Tinternet these days is flooded with multiple listings of stuff .Not just sale items not just boats .
You just have to in a DD way start the ball rolling - tel / e - mail etc and dig a bit to find

First - is it for sale now ?
Where it is it ? For viewing
Price ?

Then go from there .

If you dig deep enough via tinternet my boat is STILL listed by various sites @ 3 different prices , 2 different sale locations .
I did the last transaction in 2014 , with the previous sale site still up by a different broker on a 3rd party sale site .No scam - message just - tinternet sales shadows hanging around .

But while it’s still floating around up there on the net , it won,t stop prospects enquiries.

I fact I spoke to the previous broker and he sent me his old pics and filled in history gaps to the owner who now was selling . It all tallied up .
So paps if you can do a kinda “ search “ back a few trades and the brokers are co- operative ,that’s better than being spoon fed what the current seller / broker says to you - so in that respect tinternet shadows going back zonks are beneficial,if you dig a bit to unearth them .

The pictures are very recent pictures of Vilamoura. The construction is the Tivoli hotel's conference centre. It's not the Azores.
The scam listing is exactly 1/2 price, just like the other one.
