Looking for suggestions for cheap but accessible hardstanding to leave a 9m gaffer whilst it is put for sale and sold, somewhere on south coast - can be anywhere as boat (not mine BTW) is currently enroute from SW Ireland.

Suggestions please.

Thanks in advance.

Check out the 'used boat show' deals if you are considering brokerage.
Don't save £100 on the hard standing at the expense of £1k on the sale price.
If you're not looking at brokerage, maybe further West will be cheaper.

I guess the most important is somewhere potential buyers can readily get to. The owner will be heading back to Ireland and I’ll probably keep on top of the maintenance until it sells. I’m in Oxfordshire, but my boat is in Southampton, so somewhere near there probably most convenient. Thx

You want it sold.
Put it with other similar boats where more potential buyers for an gaffer will be likely to see it.

It won't sell in a yard full of top notch racing jobs.

You might try Lauren Marine in Southampton, its a dump, the owner is an arse, but its cheapest around the middle of the south coast I think.

IOW is cheaper but not as accessible.

IIRC there is a broker at Deacons Boatyard on the Hamble that has a good reputation selling older/smaller boats/

The choice of location depends on many things. Accessibility is one, particularly if the owner is going to sell it himself as it needs to be close to him to conduct viewings. If he is going to use a broker then proximity to the broker is important. It also depends on how "saleable" it is including the value. So a short period to sell quickly in a higher cost location may be better than hanging around in a low cost location.

No easy answer, but sure starting from "cheap" is the best way of deciding.

You can get reasonable storage rates at Deacons. Lots of buyers and the right boat at the right price seams to sell. worth a slightly higher storage rate I think.
