I know that there is some debate as to how effective a 1kg dry powder Fire Extinguisher actually is, but if there's a small galley fire I guess I'd rather have one or two of these close to hand with a fire blanket than to be diving into a locker for a bucket. At £4.99 you can afford a few! Available from next Thursday (14th).

We bought some a while back and what impressed me about the design was the CO2 was in a sealed cylinder, LJ style, So will retain its pressure untill needed. In the past, I have had two situations where when needed, the CO2 had escaped. The first was a car type powder. Luckily there was an alternatve. The second was responding to an aicraft fire, one out of the three CO2 type used was empty. That nearly made the difference between putting it out and losing the a/c (and 22 others) All of the extingishers were under 6 months old.

Despite being advertised on their website and in their email newsletter, neither of the two stores I went to had them or knew anything about them. So my apologies if anyone else had a wasted journey.
