Came to buy some Racor R12t filter’s today. Web searches show anything from £7.84 on Amazon to upwards of £30. I eventually went for a recognised supplier so not cheap ! However next time …….what do posters think of cheap stuff like this. Seems I could buy a whole filters housing and filter for peanuts really. Personally I don’t want to sacrifice quality.

Dunno, but my neighbour lent me his tractor to cut the jungle on the lower forty.. Stumbled a bit on starting. .. Figuring that he has been retired for over 20yrs.. I changed the fuel filters for 6.20 euro each (2) The standard ones you see in the CAV set ups with glass bottoms. Roared off like a good-un.
Supplier was a local motor factor. Web might have been cheaper, but not fussed at that level.

Do differentiate between “cheap” and “pattern”. Nothing at all wrong with less expensive non OEM filters, but cheap crappy ones aren’t ideal.
The Perkins filters on Parts4Engines are cheaper and much easier to buy than “genuine Volvo Penta”. Even if they cost the same, it’s much simpler to buy them. They are same quality.

As implied already, engine manufacturers don't make filters. Pattern filters are likely to be identical to those in a Volvo (or whatever) box, as long as they're from a well-known maker. Equivalents for OEM filters have been posted for many engines on these fora; as already noted, later Volvo engines (Post the 200x series) are rebadged Perkins engines, so it's easy to find equivalents. It's a bit harder for the 200x series (which Volvo made; they aren't rebadged), but easy enough; I've posted a list of equivalents, and my daughter in the motor trade has no difficulty getting them at about a fiver each!
