Used this scheme last year and it works very well, not the most comfortable way to travel across, cheap and cheerful just about covers it. The new facility in Dover is much better than going to main ferry area. And the onshore catering facilities at both ends are awful but at that price who cares?

Usual caveats

Was this the company that was on TV a few years ago claiming they had been victims of a dirty tricks campaign by P&O in Dover?

Might be worth mentioning that they also have tasty sandwiches and snacks at realistic prices, and the tea and coffee is cheap too.

Have used the service lots. Its best when they start the service again after bad weather stoppage. its very lively in a big slop.

Good deals but... I travelled with them 6 times in a motorhome then on the 7th occassion in the same vehicle, it was suddenly deemed to wide - by 2 cm. I was escorted from the dock with my head hung low despite the ship being only half full. I was fully refunded so they lost revenue and a regular customer and I lost £100 booking last minute with Norfolk line. Rules are rules blah blah blah.

The other operators have obviously now got the message. I used SeaFrance for a morning crossing to Calais this week for 28 pounds with car and cat (feline not boat). SpeedFerries charge 15 pounds just for the cat! It's worth checking all operator's prices before booking

It's always worth checking on one off trips.
Where the £22 fare comes into play is when you need to travel in school holidays or other peak times.

This summer hols I am doing 4 trips total cost £88. The cheapest alternative (Sea France) would have cost £387. That is a saving of 200 glasses of 1664.But this weekend I am doing a day trip with seafrance as its £9 cheaper.

The downside is you may not be able to travel exactly when you want, but I have always managed to book within 4 hrs of my prefered time, and as FC alluded, the ferries are more weather sensitive than SF or P&O.

NB they are doing a 6 trip special at the moment.

I don't suppose anyone knows of a way to get a cheap ferry across the Irish sea. Quoted £280 for car and 2 people Holyhead to Dublin return. We were going for the end of Stangford Lough race week but for that money it looks like SWMBO and I are staying home.
