Cheap deck shoes

Unfortunately Dubarry deck shoes are nowhere near as good as they were. I think they are made in China now.
I used to buy a pair of DB Admirals at Southampton BS every other year, after a couple of wearings they fitted like a glove, the leather was really soft and the soles were thick and comfortable to walk in even on stones.
My last pair bought last year have been horrible, hard leather, thin soles and generally uncomfortable. May as well buy cheap ones now they all come from China.

The DB soles have exactly the same pattern as the Amazon ones, probably made in the same factory.
Incidently how are you all getting 2 pairs of the Amazon ones for £20ish?
The site link is showing them at £22 pair:confused:

I had a pair of Seabago deck shoes, quite expensive when I bought them but I was feeling flush at the time. They were very comfy but after twelve years good use they were definitely in need of replacement (though looked very characterful!).

I found to replace them would cost about £100 (this was about 4 years ago), and was wondering whether the other brands about £50-£60 or so in the chandlers were any different, when I spotted a pair of 'Sterling & Hunt' brand deck shoes in a high street shoe store for only £19. I thought I couldn't justify paying 5 times the price for what looked pretty much the same thing.

I found they were rather uncomfortable, but worse, when they got wet the dye in them leaked and stained my feet. In fact they weren't really deck shoes at all, but were just deck shoe styled ordinary shoes.

Appalled, I just wrote off the £19 and went out and coughed up the £100 for another pair of Sebagos, so I never did find out if the budget 'real' deck shoes were as good. I've probably only got another five or so years before I have to face the same dilemna!

Chatham Sport 'Bow' at the boatshow for £40 - great for general use and it means I can keep my Dubarry's (bargain from last years show) on the boat!

I recieved two pairs today in brown and blue, they were so good I went to get some for hubby and son number three. They have put the price up to £22.50.

Never mind, there will be other shoes... Woman talking... :D

Hmmm, I ordered mine on Tuesday 18th and they haven't arrived yet .

Anyone else still waiting for them to turn up?

I also ordered a pair on the 18th but with free super saver delivery.
This always takes longer and my order acknowledgement shows - Delivery estimate: 24 Sep 2012 - 26 Sep 2012

'tis true. I was in the Dubarry factory shop last month whilst visiting the outlaws in Ireland. Looked at the deckshoes and saw a "Made in China" sticker on the sole. Didn't even bother looking any further.
I bought a pair 15 years ago. They've just come to the end of their life.
I've found a Workwear shop in New Malden that sells decent quality English made deckies for 30 quid. I've since bought a pair of them. They are what Dubarry used to be......
