Had one of these delivered today and, although quite light, is pretty sturdy and doesn't flex like some cheap tables. The legs are removable and so by sticking a pedestal fitting to the underside it can used with a standard table post. At 2.5 feet, and around 20 quid, it makes a pretty good and inexpensive cockpit table.

ps does anyone know if there are such things as plastic table posts? I've only ever seen metal ones, but would quite like a white plastic one.

If your cockpit is a simple rectangle with two benches and maybe a bridgedeck then you can make a very simple, lightweight table with a rectangle of plywood with a couple of battens underneath and place it spanning the cockpit and supported at either end on the benches. The battens locate it laterally. Still leaves seating space and room for legs.

This is mine.Pure marble, never rusts. The problem is that plates and stuff keep sliding off the table because for some reason the boat is tilting backwards.
