DOH! You missed the 20-60 zoom spotter scope with tripod for about £20 at Aldi the other month then?

[/ QUOTE ] No I did not miss it. I just did not think a telescope on a tripod in a small kitchen was going to be very convenient.

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif That MUST be a small kitchen! The scope only has a 12" footprint! I have used it on a window sill. If the kitchen is that small, where do you keep the teapot? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

teapot?

[/ QUOTE ] Teapot? there's no room for a teapot we make the tea straight into the cup with a teabag.

10x magnification is just too high for hand use without tripod.

I think 7x 50 is fairly standard for boat use?

10x is fine ashore if you havent been at the booze locker. I have zooms which go to 25x, and find them useable up to around 15x without support, ashore. But I agree anything over 7 or 8x is not much use afloat except in the marina!

Thanks for offers of help. I am trying small amounts of WD 40, and giving it time to work its way around, An end cap comes of easily so I have some access.

Incidentally in todays PBO, the £50 yellow Aldi Binos I bought a year ago are for sale under another name with blue trim for £99...and billed as a special offer. Not that special an offer then.
