Chartplotter

No disrespect to anyone trying to earn a few quid, but £145 for a second hand 10" tablet with some charts ?

Why not buy a new one for £109.99 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lenovo-Tab-E10-10-1-Inch-16GB-WiFi-Android-Tablet-Black-/361873410464

What's it cost for VMH charts and the app' £30 ?

reverse price it....20 charts,10 app,10 stands,three of them,8 for two quality high amp chargers,15.00 fees,5 post,3 antiglare,2 watprf bag 2 packing,vat 10,..= !!!!! 85.00!!!

several reasons.

bad website...no-ones perfect.

As someone who's also been put off your products by your website, may I offer a few pointers that you can carry out yourself for free?
1. Never use more than one exclamation mark. Nothing says 'dodgy' like multiple !!!.
2. Ditto commas.
3. Use lower case. Reading everything in capitals is much harder.
4. Most important. Think what you want to say. This section:
THESE LISTED BELOW ARE THE MODELS WE HAVE READY TO PLOTTER

IF NOT LISTED ON THE TOP OF THIS PAGE,ITS ON EBAY.
WEBSITE PRICES ALWAYS CHEAPER.ONLY FAIR.STILL PAYPAL

is very clumsy. The link to this section says 'current accurate stock', but when you get there you find there's other stuff on e-bay. 'Current Website Stock' would be better.
"These listed below are the models we have ready to plotter"
What do you mean by 'to plotter'? Do you mean "These are our current-ready-to-go tablets"?
I would then have 'More stock available on e-bay.'
I would leave out the next two sentences and add 'Payment by PayPal'. That's all anyone needs to know.

5. Cut out any 'witty' or irrelevant comments. They just get in the way.

I hope you will read this as an attempt to offer constructive feedback rather than an insult or complaint. We need small specialist businesses such as yours.

Thanks,,this is helpfull, thank you, nothing quite cheeses you off than criticisms from people who seem to have no idea of how much a struggle it is to start/run a business in this area, especially when you put so much effort/time into it.Try to find a unhappy lcp customer? they are a rare breed, yet i bet you can find many unhappy customers fo the mainstream firms, raymarine and the like..I will get around to tidying the website. Our main problem is we are part-time.When/if we grow suffiently to go full time I will be able to do much more.Currently we work 18 hours/7 days between lcp and our main jobs.Tablets are only 50% of our trade.12v pc systems, and panasonic toughbook systems are our main products.Steve

Good quality kit; low prices, a fantastic after sales service, never too busy to answer questions from techno dummies, a small company in the UK that deserves our support but hey, he uses too many exclamation marks so lets line up to slag him off!

I wasn't slagging him off. When I am researching a purchase, my first point of call is the Internet. I look at the websites of the companies concerned both large and small. I like to support small, local businesses, and small specialist marine businesses. But I'm not rich, so I have to try and decide from the information I find whether the company concerned is a good one or not. One of those criteria is the standard of communication on the website. That's all I have if I can't visit the company personally. Another source is other people's' experiences. A couple of years ago I was in the market for a tablet and came across this company under discussion. I was put off it by the website. Having read the endorsements here I now believe that the company deserves support. I offered a few suggestions that the proprietor might use to accommodate people like me who access his website. If I'd just wanted to slag him off I wouldn't have taken as much trouble about it.
How do you judge whether a company is good or not? Are all small companies good?

quick and recent feedback - had a problem with my relatively new plotter from london chartplotters. email support was quick then a phone call and within a day a replacement arrives in the post - great service.

The forum is called "Practical Boat Owner", it's stated purpose "Share practical, hands-on information."

I make no excuses for suggesting a new tablet and charts, costing the same as your secondhand units might be an alternative. People might think the cost of a mount (if the need it) would be worth having a brand new tablet. Let's not worry about the chargers, the new one has both.

I don't come to these forums to tout my services (although i do include a mention of what i do in my signature), i come here to share what i know. You will not see me constantly sending PM's to people offering to solve their problems for a fee. I never ask people where they keep their boat, so i can try and get some work out of them. If i do ask, or i know they are local, i will often offer to take a quick look at something for them, for free.

I wish you the very best of luck with your venture and hope it all works well for you, so you can work at it full time. I've not said anything bad about you or your business, so i don't think i "should know better".
