My old lowrance packed up yesterday so looking for a replacement. I see London Chartplotters are offering a chartplotter with charts and AIS reception for £155,00. Seems almost too good to be true - anybody with experience of thi sCompany and products. Mike

I've got one of the London Chartplotter tablets. It's alright for the money and I was on a budget, so I can't complain. But... it's not waterproof at all, so you have to use it in a case (which is supplied), which makes it fiddly to use and its nearly impossible to see the screen in proper daylight. And the battery life isn't great, so I have to have a 5m usb socket trailing out from the chart table (could put an external USB socket in I suppose) which is a bit of a pain.

As a tool to have downstairs and using as a backup it's great. As soon as I can afford it I'll be getting something like this https://www.marinesuperstore.com/gps-radar/fixed-gps-plotters/b-g-vulcan-5-fs
and building myself a grp binnacle for it to sit in by the wheel.

So... Depends what you want to use it for as to whether it's the right tool for the job. But if they meet your needs, for the money they're pretty good and his service is great.

That's a bit harsh to Steve, out to earn living offering setup of OpenCPN for people that are maybe technically challenged or short of time.

Blokes a nice guy, offering an honest service at a fair price.

But with some strange contradictions. The ad Glenlivet linked to described the tablet as "Grade Of Product: Refurbished Grade B" in one place, then as "Product Grade: SUPERB" in another place. Which is it? And in one place it says "Warranty: 1 Year", and then in another place it says "6 months guarantee". Again, which is it? And the website is littered with spelling mistakes - it's not difficult these days to use a spellchecker, surely?

I bought one of these, but unfortunately the battery life is woeful. It's a shame because it's not a bad little unit otherwise.

several reasons.

uk in house guarantee spares/repairs.6 months.
proper tablet mains charger.
2.4 amp sony 12v charger,suitable extended use.
quality tablet holder with stantion mount/bar mount and suction mount.
antiglare screen fitted.
support with tablet/charts/software.
neckbag.
leads.
All set up.
1st class service.
bad website...no-ones perfect.

You know what they say? Anyway, most of the products seem to be secondhand "remanufactured" units. I must say I'd never buy anything from such a shabby website.

Good,i prefer my customers to realize i am a "one"man band, and not a glossy multinational.Perhaps i should stop working 18 hour days, employ a webmaster and put my prices up,specially for you!!!! With exchange rates caused by brexit, refurbished tablets make sence.A grade b plus tablet is actually nearly as new.Steve
