Chartplotter/Autopilot Integration

It's a male/female thing. Blokes seem to prefer north up and girls prefer course up. I don't know about your SWMBO but mine always switches her satnav in her car to course up and I know other women who do the same. I guess it's a spatial awareness thing. Of course, if you're a bloke and you like it course up, it's not illegal these days AFAIK

Thanks, mike. That must explain why I spent Sunday morning listening to Gok Wan on Desert Island Discs....Not to mention all the Judy Garland posters in my office. :)

Sorry BJB, not concentrating fully here (on the forum) - I wasn't keeping up. Point takem - N Up is ok, each to their own as you say. My comment was to MapisM who is quite a purist :)

Yopu're onto something with your car idea. But AIS not radar. It would be pretty handy if other cars showed up on the satnav screen as target triangles. With special colours for BMWs, Frenchpersons, and so on.

LOL, yeah, but nothing against contrary views also from my part, of course.
Btw Deleted User indeed has a point, also my wife confirm his analysis.
Alas, I'm also happy that course up is allowed for blokes these days :), 'cause actually in very rare occasions I do use it on cars: when I want/need to go fast on unknown motorways with poor visibility (night and/or rain).
It works as a sort of co-pilot, anticipating how the road develops in front of you before it's actually visible.
