HI

I was wondering if companies exist that will let you charter a boat across the atlantic (prefrably solo) - I thnk i can anticipate the very short answer to this, but I felt it was worth asking the question.

Also what do people do with the boat once they have made the crossing, going on the assumption there would be too many restrictions allowing me to sail back again what do people who need to make the return journey by other means (mainly air) do with the boat.

Thanks

Alistair

Many single handed professional racers charter boats so it should not be impossible. I think the cost and the insurance may be somewhat prohibitive, and whether any sub 30 feet boats are available is another question.
As far as what you do with the boat. Most return the same year with their boat either single handed or crewed. Some leave it for the following year so as not to make the necessity for too long a period away from work or family in one hit. One person that I am aware of sold their boat in the US. And the Newport Yacht Club or is it the City of Newport Museum will take any boat that has crossed the Atlantic single handed and exhibit as I understand.
