Charter - Croatia /Adriatic Italy

Does anyone have any experience / contacts with regard to chartering a yacht in the summer in the above areas?
Met with lots of people at the LBS but even though I have a load of brochures I am none the wiser.
Anyone with actual experience...... what’s a good area..... what’s a good company.

Any hints gratefully accepted

Thanks

Croatia Charter

Danny

We chartered bareboat out of Murter in 2001, and did it through Activity Holidays with whom we did our first charter (flotilla out of Levkas Greece) in 1997. As far as I remember, bareboat was not part of their normal menu, and they may have arranged the boat through sub-agents. So, while I cannot recall the precise arrangements ie whether it was an AH boat or some sort of sub-contract, it was an Elan 333 at a very competitive price. The service was fine and it was nice seeing Activity people that we'd previously met in the Ionian.

I'd recommend them, especially if you want a reasonably priced holiday. The old company has since split into two, and their old website at http://www.activity-holidays.co.uk/ says:
from the end of 2004, Activity Holidays is splitting into two separate companies, and for 2005 will operate as follows.

Jim Nagle will remain as an independent company trading as Activity Yachting Holidays, and operating from the Sidlesham office. He will continue to run and expand the existing Croatia programme, in addition to increasing his role as an agent offering a broad range of bareboat and other sailing holidays in Greece, Croatia and Turkey. Jim can be contacted on 0845 345 7418, or 01243 641304 or by e-mail on jim@activityyachting.com Alternatively please click here on www.activityyachting.com to be taken directly to his web site.

Allan Gauci takes over the Greece programme and has returned to operating from the Sunvil offices, in Isleworth, Middlesex, with Sunvil Specialist Greece. His direct phone number is 0208 758 4780, or the switchboard number is 0208 568 4499. E-mail address is allan@sunvil.co.uk or click here on www.sunvil.co.uk/sites/sunvil-greece/static/sailing_main.asp to be taken directly to the sailing pages of the Sunvil Specialist Greece web site.

Hope this helps.

Re: Charter - Croatia /Adriatic Italy

A few years ago we chartered from Sunsail out of Pula - had a great week, lots of great islands, food and drink cheap and we found knowing a little German vastly improved your chances of getting what you ordered.

This year, we have just booked a Bavaria 39 out of Trogir (near Split) via Nigel James Yacht Charter (http://www.nj-yacht.com). He works with a few of the local charter companies and gives good advice. We have used Nigel several times now and found him great to do business with.

Re: Charter - Croatia /Adriatic Italy

I chartered twice in Vieste/Italy with a company called www.southseasailing.it
You can either sail along the lovely and uncrowded coast of the italian Gargano peninsula and to the fascinating Tremiti Islands or across the Adriatic to Dubrovnik, Korcula etc if you don't mind an 80 miles crossing.
The company offers good service (they speak english) and a pick up from Pescara airport which is served by Ryanair.
Mail me if you need more info.
