Chart table light: Decent one at last

The price list took a while to load; my pc isn't that old, I think it was trying to save me from a heart attack !

One of those lights is now on the vague 'maybe next year' list.

I use normal cabin lights ( white and red ) and an illuminated magnifying glass for close up peering at charts.

The red cabin light is indeed useful for keeping night vision and leaving sleeping crew undisturbed, or having a relaxing mellow evening; I also fitted small red lights at floor level switchable from the cockpit which are handy.

I bet you attract lots of 'visitors' in all the ports!;)

Chart table light may be effective in that department but if you really want to attract some attention ......

The Red LED I fitted to the Cockpit light is a tad bright ...... not helped by the digital cameras sensitivity to the red part of the spectrum!

The red light myth is a myth :)

In other words red light is much better at preserving our low level (scotopic vision). Make sure its as dim as possible.
The eyes physiology is such that only red light can allow you to see small detail without bleaching out your low level night vision.
