brilliant!!! Which is just as well, coz the bloody navman FAILED!! (gotta laugh...see previous thread :) )
Anyway, soon got used to having 2 pricks in my hand...and of course the course plotter ;) and in no time at all (under Davids watchful eye) we were anchored up over at Osborne Bay. Absolutely 'kin BRILLIANT!!!
David?...what can I say??, and I know it's gonna annoy you hugely so....thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!
Parking (can't help it, it's always gonna be parking to me!) was a tad tricky sometimes, so until i get it perfect, I'm gonna trade fenders for tyres and stick foam insulation all along the sides!! I suggest my neighbours do the same
Gotta say, driving home in the car, all I could hear every time I turned the steering wheel was... 'watch the bow! Don't let the stern swing out!!' 'A little forward ANNNNNNND OFF...No dammit, too much thrust!! and as I sit here typing this at my kitchen table...I am still swaying!!
All I can say is the PB2 we did with Mendez was fantastic! can't say enough about it except anyone who is thinking about it...do yourselves a favour, stop thinking and just do it...it's great fun and a very valuable (and steep) learning curve. Simply a must!!

Thanks again David :) and nice to meet you Julie.

Nice to meet you too, and I think that is the first time David has not let me make coffee for peeps, but he is probable right in that it would have started a gossipy time and you needed to get out on the water. lol
nice to meet you too.

Navman

Following on from previous thread,i withdraw my offer to buy the navman&well done MM1.

Glad you enjoyed it!

I'm glad you enjoyed it and plotting the "old way" is good fun isn't it! Just goes to show that when all the gizmos don't work you can still go out and enjoy yourself!

Here are the links we spoke about:

Tides - http://easytide.ukho.gov.uk/EasyTide/EasyTide/SelectPort.aspx

For your portable radio licence - http://www.ofcom.org.uk/licensing/olc/

You will need to register on the Ofcom site and then apply for a "portable radio" licence, not the fixed set.

Weather sites:

Have fun and enjoy the VHF course on 6th. You got Julie for that, so you can gossip over lunch!

Welcome to the intriguing world of coastal navigation Lisa - never forget that navigation is more of an art than a science !!!

There is as much out there to learn as you want to - most of it practical, some a bit esoteric, but all interesting.

I still find navigation satisfying after all these years, especially as I only do it for fun nowadays.
