chart plotters misting up...

Hi all ive cured the misting up problem on my cp1000 chart plotter. i undid the case a tiny bit just enough to slide in a silica sachet that u get in box with a pair of shoes, hey presto magic it works ,so far no misting up.... good in it ...... and before anyone says oh dear ur guarante is viod , well im not bothered cos ill just buy another...just thought those with the same problem would be interested. regards..

Don't forget to take it out every so often and dry it in a warm oven or on top of a radiator to reactivate. The Silica Gel packet that is !!

If you took it home and let it thoroughly dry out internally then sealed the joint it wouldn't mist up again.

It would mist again if you take it to warm home to dry out and then seal ... as soon as temp falls - bingo ! Reason being that warm comfortable air is 'moist'.

Most gear that does not mist up is Nitrogen filled.

Best actually is a COLD dry day ... moisture content of the air then is much lower. Airing cupboards are high humidity locations and totally unsuitable.
