I have a Lorenz chart plotter and the everything is fine except the 'boat' does not move with the screen, have studied the Manuel numerous times, reset factory settings and still no joy! Any advice or any knowledge or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Happy boating!

Hi, yes the chart does scroll and the boat icon stays still, any ideas much appreciated

I am not familiar with that plotter, but that may be all you get, as Bilgediver says it may be selectable in a menu, look for true motion or relative motion in the manual. Might help if you post the model name / number, somebody may be familiar with it.

If you watch a chartplotter you'll see that the plot around the marker moves, not the boat marker.

Not if there is a true motion / relative motion option in the menu, and most have that function, one makes the icon move along the chart and the other scrolls the chart over the icon as you describe.

If we read Lorenz as Lowrance, the menu option you describe, is not the default setting and is only available on the large-screen versions.

I see no reason to read Lowrance, I reasonably assumed the OP has a Lorenz as that is what he wrote, the possible lack of true v relative motion is why I said in my earler post that his current display mode may be his only option.
