Chart plotter not receiving AIS

Thanks. I had a fiddle with these settings already. It seemed to make no difference, even showing 0 knts and 20km (whatever the setting, it seems to show vessels on pontoons nearby - obviously tied up and doing 0 knts !)
I did notice the vhf was programmed with a diferent MMSI than the chartplotter - but that just causes my vessel to show up as a danger and an icon....

So still only shows vessels up to 250 mile away - nothing else. Diagnostics show transmitting messages - plenty of them.....

There is no possible way any vessel is going to receive AIS from over 250 miles away under normal conditions

Last weekend, I swapped my old GPSMAP 421 for a second hand 722+ and connected it to my AIS by NMEA0183. And I got exactly the same issue as discribed in this post: no AIS targets visable. High speed port settings, etc. Tried also factory reset, different cable, double checked manuals and contacted Garmin Support. They concluded there must be something with the unit.

@cathy: you solved your issue by using other wires. Can you eloborate on that?

Have a look at the wiring diagram posted above by dippertoo. It was different from the one in our M10 manual. We originally connected the same colour wires that were connected to the old chart plotter but they didn't work so we connected the alternatives shown on that diagram and it worked. You can't hurt anything by trial and error.
