Hi all a little help needed

I have a Raymarine A65 Chart Plotter and have just purchased a Depth Transducer

Raymarine A65, DSM25 Transom Depth Transducer P58 A102138 6/9M

I am told that I will need another box before I can connect it to the A65 Chart plotter.

Rather confusing I now need a
DSM25 Digital Sounder Module E63070???

A little help is that correct can I not plug the transducer directly into the Plotter?

And what is the difference between the
DSM25 Digital Box and the DSM250 Digital Sounder Module E63070
Would this box have NMEA to connect to other devices?

Any help appreciated

This plotter doesn’t have an inbuilt transducer driver so you need the DSM25 which generates the pulse for the transducer and interprets the return signal for the display. It only has two connections, one to the transducer and the other is the cable to the plotter, it won’t connect with any other NMEA device. But you have a dedicated NMEA socket on the back of your plotter, hope this helps.

The older Raymarine models were designated A50/65 and A50/65D, the D signified sonar capability. Possibly cheaper to buy a more modern MFD as CF chart cards are no longer supported either.

Thanks for that info

So if I wanted to connect a Clipper speed log to the A65 Chart plotter that would require another Module NMEA as the log works of GPS
Would that be correct or could you connect the Speed log straight to the GPS Aerial?
