Searush;3812423 Many 60's transats used to just use a bit of blank paper for plotting their track between the solid bits. Why spend money on a chart with [B said:
no soundings[/B] or land? There aren't many nav marks either. :D

Sea mounts, for one. Best avoided though I think Caribbean - Azores doesn't have any (edit - ooops, wrong way) . I've always kept well clear but heard stories of occasion weird waves even with 100m or more depth.

And the imray 100 has all the wind pilot charts for each month on the back, along with currents, sea ice extent and the usual loads of other interesting info :)

Is there a single chart thta covers from the UK to Barbados? I think Imray North atlantic passage chart 100 may be whant I want, but I can't seem to find a picture of the area covered.

I used the imray 100. Just had a look, atlantic pretty much devoid of fixes

Still, they were all in the log book and opencpn.

If you have nexus 7 (me too, love it) then a spreadsheet of daily noon sights should make it a bit easier to transfer into google maps if you want an online reminder as well.

Have a great passage! catch fish!! :)

Gnomic charts for an Atlantic passage on a yacht are as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Waste of money.

My all time favourite chart is AC 4012 North Atlantic Southern Part.

I have used it lots and always kept them in top condition throughout the voyage!

I especially like the bit when you log your position remarking 'it was so hot today and the sea was such a lovely colour blue that we hove to and had a swim' :)

Im not so fond of the bit coming back where you log 'gale just finished but the nice clear skies means we can see another halo round the sun' :(
