I was appalled to read last week that the South Wales police force, had advised the organisers of the annual Mumbles raft race, which is held every year in aid of the RNLI, that it wants 3K to police the event!!!! somehow my enthusiasm to join in this annual event has been dampened, as some of the money I would raising in sponsorship will be used by the police to set up road cameras and extra traffic wardens !!!
What is Happening to this country???? and why should such a worthy Charity be Taxed in this manner?

Grrr Grrr Rant over!!!

It's not the country, it's the people who aren't good enough to work in the real world, so get a job with an organisation that ends in '. . .Authority'

IMHO the organisers should either tell the plods to go away in short jerky motions - they already are paid for police duties, and proceed with the event, or cancel the event and let it be known why. An advert in the local - no national - press along the lines "Police Extortion cancels charity event should do nicely - I am sure some of the gutter press would run such for free.

The next thing is they will want the public to pay them extra for issuing parking tickets

Is this the same authority that set up a "Safety Camera" within the RAC Rally (or what ever its called now) last year thus ensuring the organisers seriously considered new venues this year?? Doing a cracking Community Service Job these boys aren't they?

Feel inclined to disagree with your views on this but dont want to start a monster argument........

Suffice to say that if extra policing is needed it costs so either the event contributes or rate/tax payers will need to pay more............or do you have some other magic formula for springing the wherewithall to pay the boys in blues' overtime?

.......i find your comment re the charity being 'taxed' quite intrigueing /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
