I will create a Just Giving page similar to the one I used for the London to Brighton ride... what total shall we go for? I raise £2120 for the last one.. as this is going to be a group effort, shall we go for £5000 or is that too ambitious?

Yep, a very knackered one in that pic.... twas taken at the top of a 21km climb in the Alps.. hence the rictus grin!

Suspect not! I'll stick with a cheap road bike for this.... less tough on the posterior!

Before we all start biting off more than we can chew would it be a good idea to say something about the pacing of this ride?

I'm planning to participate on my old Claude Butler velocopede - the bike will be well up to the challenge but the rider may be less so.

I reckon I can happily keep up an average 10 - 15 mph pace over the planned distance but looking at some of you other lycra clad athletes I wont have to worry about being first to the bar at the end!

happy to ride at the slowest pace personally.... did the coast to coast earlier this year with fellow forumite CPD, and we managed to keep the pace low enough to not miss a single hostelry along the way!
