I have been over to France a few times but never ever been asked to produce any ICC or other quals. Is this peculiar to me ofrdo the French not bother with this sort of thing..

Pretty hpot on it in Spain for time to time.

Re: Chanel Policing

France doesn't require them unless you are entering their inland waterways - in which case you need the CEVNI endorsement.

I was once asked for one when launching, despite it being in the upper reaches of a tidal river (below first lock). At the time I got the impression that this particular guy would have asked for anything he could (not my normal experience there though).
Was asked for ICC and insurance on both occasions I launched in Marinas in Spain.

it seems to depend on the boat - and you are defintiely of interest with a nice big targa.

Last week, i arrioved in roscoff and a quartett of Douaniers arrived on the boat inside an hour. Same thing in Brest. But it was passports, boat papers and hidden drugs they wanted to see - not qualifications. That wd be Gendarmes.

But i wd do a qualification anyway - whats the prob getting someone along to confirm you know wot you are doing? It's only £200 or less on own boat. I have never ever had an rya instructor on board and failed to learn summink new.

As, TCM says you are more likely to get asked for Passports and Ships papers, and they do not like photo-copies!
