I've made a thread a couple of days ago asking about a repair I had done on my toggles, and whatever I should keep them or have them replaced (not really necessary to read to understand my question, but here is a link for reference: Acceptable-rigging-repair-(metallurgy)).
Some of you guys said the repair was OK. Problem is that these kind of toggles are not made anymore (Proctor mast), so I got some quotes on having them made. Prices were around 360€, ouch.

This got me looking at standard Seldén toggles, and I found a pair that fit the most, and only cost €80!
This is my current toggle:

And this is what I'm thinking about replacing it with:

Seldén part number 517-003-01 D
  • For 5mm wire (my size)
  • Width 30mm
  • Masthead pin 10mm
  • Term pin 10mm

I don't really know much about boats and especially nothing about rigging, but I can't really see how it could be a bad choice. The attachment points will probably be a few cm off compared to the old toggles, that's the only obvious difference I can see. Well except the width that will go down from 44mm to 30mm, which might allow for the toggle to slide on the clevis pin? But could that even happen under tension?
What do you guys think?

Would have thought it would be perfectly adequate. I'd use a short length of thick wall tube either side of the toggle to keep it centered on the clevis pin.
