changing the shower head / hose

I want to change the shower head and hose on my S42 for a more modern head with more options for swmbo but when I came to swap them over I found the one fitted is a smaller odd size thread, has anyone else come across this and did you get round it, if so how????

I think the common domestic one is 1/2" BSP - I would try a 3/8" BSPF to 1/2" BSPM adaptor. This is a simple hollow adaptor that would screw on the smaller end fitting and space it out to suit the common hose. Seal with some PTFE tape and / or loctite 577.

Look on penguin engineering site they do many heads and supply the builders

Interesting that you have non std fittings Shawn. My (Italian) boat has std domestic fittings for the shower heads surprisingly.

no mine are smaller than a normal shower hose and the hose itself has a male end going into the shower head and a female end going onto the supply end coming out the wall which I found odd

I bought managed to get an original replacement from Nick at Seabridge Marine. I haven't fitted this yet as it is a sod to remove everything but it was quite reasonable.
