Whilst I have the saildrive gearbox and leg at home, I have decided to change the standard VP plastic raw water seacock for a more robust ball valve with a decent handle. As far as I can make out the hole into the top of the saildrive leg and of course the current seacock have a tapered thread, the only ball valves I can find are straight threads.

Any idea where I can get a tapered male 1/2 BSP ball valve from?

are you sure you want to mix metals on an Ali leg

The obvious route to explore is " Marelon" fittings and valves but I do not see an easy solution there . In fact I do not see a solution at all!
Plastic ball valves yes but with female threads and no obvious way of connecting one to the sail drive.

Volvo do a upgrade kit with an adaptor Item 34 here. http://www.volvopentashop.com/Volsp...dTransmissions/7748570/7748570_44/7748570_000 The standard BSP ball valves fit this.
