Hi,
I've got to change the hull anode for the first time. Its a round one with a single bolt going through the hull. I presume I have to seal it etc.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim

If I remember correctly the stud that holds the anode is secured to the hull by a nut on the outside and a small plate fixed to the stud on the inside. (That could be the otherway round but it makes little difference. It is this that needs to be sealed. The anode is then attached to the stud with it's own nut and has a backing pad behind it. When you replace the anode you must also replace the pad. Unless the anode nut undoes easily with out disturbing the stud I would be tempted to remove the lot and start again with new sealant. A 2 man job! The M G Duff leaflet I picked up at the chandler was very helpful. Hope that helps.

as an aside, if it's an old boat (consider sticking some basic non-personal info in your profile), I would pay attention to the condition of the bolts - a supplier advised me to replace the bolts as a preventative measure on my (new to me) boat. I didnt think too much of this advice (the bolts are expensive) until I went to remove the previous anode last weekend - the bolt shreared off, so I'm converted !
