Change to Morse Controls Possible?

I notice that many boats, particularly the US market boats, have engine controls similar to what I used to have in my old Sealine 310 Statesman, where you have separate controls for the fwd / reverse and the throttles.

Is it possible to change over to a Morse system if you had one of these? If so, at what cost?
 
Possible it is for sure, but having used combined controls for many years, on every boat I helmed but the last one, now I'd rather pay to get separate controls if I had the combined ones. Though I must admit that it takes a bit more to get used to them.
 
Curiosity really...

But, also perhaps looking to buy a 60ft (ish) pilothouse type boat in the future and many of them have this sort of engine control, except for some of the newer ones.

I've had both types of controls and I much prefer the Morse, for fast reaction operation!
 
When I had my Sealine, I nearly ended up ramming the pontoon one day, when I accidentally operated the wrong lever! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I'm much more comfortable with just the two! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
 
I have them on my Princess, after standard morse on the Sealine F36, Yes they do take some getting used to and I was apprehensive at first. Fortunely the P56 has big props and good grip astern so I've got used to them. As 95% of manouvering when berthing is at tick over it makes not a lot of difference.

Mine are really quite a long way apart too (gear levers to throttle levers that is)

Indeed if you think you may need a fews revs due to big wind and tide it is possible to increase the revs slightly from idle, it will still move in and out of gear but with a bit more zest.
