Not entirely hypothetically I may decide to change my boat later this year> Presently I have a pretty (long overhangs etc) 19 ft daysailer.
Initially, whatever I choose I will continue to sail on Windermere. I tend to prefer MAB's not new white plastic; also I do not like very confined spaces with little headroom. Generally I sail single-handed but for a few days a year I have crews of up to 4 others; if I buy a boat with accommodation the frequency of this is likely to increase.

My budget will be no more than £15,000 and may be as little as £12,000. From this I want to get a boat which is: -
Fin keel with a lid
Not a "plastic gaffer"
25+ feet
Inboard which is not too disreputable
Yard Trolley
holding tank
no "face to face" dinette; i.e. a longitudinal dinette is fine but lateral as on the jaguars is very restrictive when not eating

My present list looks like: -
Sabre 27
Tomahawk
Trapper 500
Elizabethan 31
H Boat - pure beauty

Any other suggestions welcome particularly with reasons.

Your list could easily be 10 times as long as that. You may well find it becomes more focused when you start looking at boats and your choice limited by what is available, particularly if you want to buy something already on the lake. You will also find that a yard trolley is a very rare thing to come with a boat and very few boats of this age/type/price bracket will have a holding tank already fitted.

BTW all the boats you mention are likely to be much less than your budget even allowing for some upgrading.

Nothing wrong with dufour's and for your budget there is a vast number of boats out there, the biggest problem might be getting it to Windermere.
How much work (if any) do you want to do youself, I have a sigma33 that still only owes me less than 10K.
