Correct, that's my guess too. That's also true for Mercury Racing outdrives, btw.

There seens to be some confusion here about steering rams, you can fit a a hydraulic cylinder straight onto the internal power steering ram on VP installations , it screws straight on where the cable would screw on. The limiting factor is space as the new cylinder extends out to starboard a couple of feet and swings a few inches back and forwards on lock to lock.
The later DP-H drives are fully hydraulic from the start and you simply connect an AP pump into the brass T connector blocks provided plus a return to the engine driven servo pump reservoir. Thr external rams on racing drives don’t have auto pilots for obvious reasons.
