both Force4 and ASAP have not had an item in the last few weeks that i had ordered even though it didnt say on the website. I paid for next day delivery with ASAP, each order worth over £60. Had to wait over a week for ASAP to received items before sending order, Force4 I just had to chase up as its over he time they said they would have said item in stock (filler cap) and they sent one from another branch instead... They both still have the cheek to charge for postage despite delays and lack of information. Marinestore and Seamark nun are still the best I have used thus far

And the converse is that I ordered some bits from ASAP last Tuesday, they delivered them to their new Fareham branch Wednesday who delivered them the same afternoon to the Hayling Yacht Co. where our boat is on the hard.

Parts fitted Thusday, no delivery charge.

As for standards slipping, I was struggling to find 150mm x 10mm bolts.

Arthurs Chandlery in Gosport had them on the shelf up to 200mm when no other local chanlery could supply off the shelf.

Well done Arthurs.

I ordered a £55 part from Force 4 last week and it turned up in three days; that was standard service, they did offer express. It was via their Chichester ( Donnington ) branch but as they didn't have that particular ' Blue ' halliard bag in stock had to go mail order as I'm in a moderate sort of hurry - I've never known anything less than excellent service from the Chichester branch.

This happened to me a few times, with a few Chandlers (ASAP and Force 4) and with next day delivery service. In each I asked for a refund of the deliver charges and they did without a fuss.

What ' happened to you ' ?
I am responding to the OP current position with examples of late delivery and actions I took. I am not sure what would have happened to my next day delivery fee if I did not ask for a refund. Sorry, it is not aeroplane related, or even directly related to your post, but I thought it was obvious what I meant in the context of the thread.

Well done Arthurs.

If there are any chandlers as well stocked for fasteners as Arthur's, I have not encountered them. One of the things I miss about being berthed in Gosport.

As you were replying after myself and another poster it seemed reasonable to think you meant something we alluded to.

I was playing with boats long before aeroplanes, and the former still take priority to me.
