Pitch is...

Pitch is the distance between a given point on one link to the same point on the next link. For example, if the chain is laid out side-to-side in front of you, measure from the right hand end of one link to the right hand end of the next link.

Pitch is effectivly the internal length of a link. NOTE: most widths given are external.

Note that PVB and GMac give different definitions of pitch. I'd go with PVB.

If you think about it we are saying basically the same thing :-).

PVB has the full meaning and mine is the shorthand version which most understand easier.
