Evening ,
am having probs sourcing the bits for winch end of chain counter, basically it is a magnet embedded I gipsy ( lost ages ago) and a bit of wizardry(corroded beyond recognition) to count the pulses and send them to the instrument head, any ideas where to source the wizardry bit please.
Thanks
Keith

I don't know how well they need to be matched to the display/brains, but it's is just an enclosed coil. As the magnet passes the coil, a pulse of electricity is sent down the wire and the number of pulses are recorded.

You may be able to get a replacement from your windlass maker, or try Maxwell .... they do one. Personally I would go down to Halfords and buy a bicycle speed meter .... and use that sensor. It's bound to be cheaper that the marine equivalent ... and if it doesn't work, you haven't lost much.

Another thought is RS Components, but I'm afraid I haven't got time to look through the catalogue

If you have a look at the orthography likely found on the User Interface, it will help tracking down the manufacturers. Depending on the number of wires at the industrial end, the sensor could be one of three types...

The counter is Quick fitted to Lofrans winch number of wires looks like 2, is there an easy replacement from the likes of Maplin or RS what do I look for
Thanks
