Cetrek Battery Charger

Is anyone able to give me information, wiring diagram or handbook on the Cetrek Charger please?
It dates back to around 1991.
Thanks in advance.

But did you mean Ctek.

If so you will find all the info and manuals for their extensive range of battery chargers via their website

if the charger is that old, and it is in regular use,
I would replace it with a more modern Victron or Mastervolt charger (or charger/invertor)
enough story's on here from exploded battery's caused by older technology chargers...

+1

experienced problems at a friends P45 with the original CETREK battery charger, imho not worth repairing and getting your boat in danger!
No matter what, it wont do as good job as a new gen charger will do.
Then as Bart says, it's the right time to get a combo charger/inverter and be done with!

Thanks for the advice.
The charger is old and was originally made by a French company called Cristek. It appears that it contains a large transformer and obviously some kind of rectifier but beyond that I cannot find out more.
I appreciate the comments about exploding batteries but presumably this could have been caused by a fault with the battery.
Is there a particular type of charger that is more reliable and offers battery protection? I have heard of the makes recommended by Bart but unsure of which to go for.
Thanks in advance.

not an expert on the topic, but decent new gen chargers have 3 stages (bulk, absorption and float) and keep the battery safe by also monitoring battery temp and other things I haven't bothered to study any further.
I've got a Victron and Bart has a very advanced Victron setup.
Having said that, I'm using my bat. charger once in a blue moon as I've got a hardtop with 600W of solar and via a Victron again MPPT charger I have my batteries topped up practically all year round (in Greece!).
If you're going to make the move, it may be worth fitting a battery monitor as well.

I'd say spent an evening looking on the web at Victron and Mastervolt sites and see what's available.

cheers

all comments I heard about exploding battery's were associated with a older type / non Victron nor Mastervolt battery charger,
since more than 15 years we have been using Victron products in my business, building ao Mobile broadcast vans, and never ever had one exploded battery
these chargers are designed to thread the battery's in a optimal regime in every charge stage
so as long you choose a model from V or M, that has a "intelligent charger" , you're good.
no personal experience with Mastervolt, but never heard bad things from them, they have a very similar heritage like Victron, but more oem and less own design products I have been told
