try sending a PM to Aeolius who is often to be seen on this forum - he has a Centurion, lucky fellow! Otherwise, try this chap in France; he refurbishes and sells them. His e-mail is: merlot.david@wanadoo.fr

hope this helps! I can't because I haven't got a Centurion... yet!

A member of our club has a Centurion and re- engined it with a Beta about 2 years ago. If you let me know specifically what it is that is puzzling you, I will ask them.

Thanks so far !
The old Volvo Penta engine, which I believe was standard, is quit big. And the space very limited. The engine was probably put in place before the deck and hull was joined. I know several has already replaced the engine. I am seeking advice on howe to get the old engine out without having to "take the boat apart". In general any advice which can make the "operation" as easy as possibel.

A lot of the weight on this engine is the flywheel. When we removed the MD2B from my father's boat we took that off. Also remove all the extra bits like the alternator, starter motor etc. Remove all the excess weight and make it less of a handful.

We then used a timber across the hatch and used a proper engine hoist to get it out of the engine compartment.

Hope this helps.

I had the MD2B professionally removed and replaced by a Beta 28hp. last year. I disconnected shaft, control lines, mounts and electrics, exhaust etc. and took off the alternator and dynastart. I understand the engineer lifted it out with a crane, turning it round in the area by the galley and then took it out with the flywheeel facing the stern. Some 12 years ago I had the MD2B rebuilt and I know the engineer then took the engine out and replaced it so I know they will come out in one go, so to speak! Hope this helps.
