I'd like to get new foam fitted to my bunk cushion - neither time nor budget will stretch to a new cushion this year. Can anyone suggest an economical but effective upholsterer somewhere between Edinburgh and Glasgow who might take this on? The fabric is in fair condition, but the zip is jammed and may need replacement.

Presumably the foam is too soft and you hit the hard when lying on it. A simple solution might be additional high density foam under the mattress. (or inside the cover)Alternatively you must have foam and bedding supply shops in Scotland. They may be able to provide foam of a suitable density and thickness for replacement. Re the U/S zipper you could buy wide velcro (hook and pile) and sew inside the cover with an overlap to give a suitable closure. or just add buttons or press studs. It is all DIY.

Thanks. I have more projects than I can count on at the moment, so I really want to pay someone else to do a quick fix.

Perth will stretch your 'central' definition but this company did our entire boat this winter (7 berths plus numerous seats and trimmings) and were incredibly good:

Many thanks. Perth is centralish enough! Any other suggestions nearer Edinburgh would still be useful, though ...

Troon Upholstery made a full set of foams and covers for my GK34 and did it from scratch as the previous cushions were such a bio-hazard they went straight to the tip. I am sure they would be up for re-foaming existing cushions, new zips etc
