Hi, I am wanting to modify my companionway sliding hatch on my Westerly Centaur from the original GRP hatch to the later design that was a sliding perspex hatch. does anyone have any images of the later design, please?

I did not know that Centaurs were fitted with sliding acrylic hatches but have you tried asking on the Westerly Owners association forum and their Yahoo discussion group.

I don't have any that I think would be good enough to base a copy on, mine is a later boat with the hatch you want.
I just looked through the Yahoo group pictures and couldn't see any there either (there may be some but I didn't see any). There is a pic of one of the earlier hatches with a garage over the top of it but I can't say it did anything for me asthetics wise.
If you have no luck elsewhere I'll see about taking some pics, but it won't be this W/E.

My Fathers' Centaur had the late hatches; when she was broken into the acrylic main hatch was broken, quite expensive; hope the WOA can help.
In Dad's boats' case, the only consolation was the broken hatch was covered in blood !

Yes the WOA site would be the obvious site, but I cannot get on (I logged the issue). I think I can work it out, but I guess any home made garage is going to potentially look a bit crappy.

I have the hatch you are talking about mine is 78/79 I suggest you look on Apollo Duck or similiar site, one with lots of photos. If you have no luck let me know.

I have the sliding hatch version also. If the rain is not too bad I can take photos this afternoon or if you are close then come and have a look as well and take your own own photos. I'm on the hard at the moment.

There was a chap in Ilfracombe that made GRP hatch garages for Centaurs. I bought one and fitted it very easily. It made a huge difference to water ingress. However, I no longer have his contact details, but I found the info on the WOA website.
