hello, excuse my English translated by Google ;-) I am planning a tour of the Celtic Sea (Brest, Scilly, Ireland, Scotland, Crinan canal, Wales,...) with my SunOdyssey 35 with 1m85 draft of water. Do you think the draft is a handicap for this project? THANKS

Welcome to the forum

Short answer is no as there are more than enough deep water ports and anchorages. There are of course some smaller ports and river estuaries that dry out or have draft limitations but they are a minority. The only possible exception is Scillys but it is well charted with enou8gh all tide moorings and anchorages if required.

I'm a member of a Dublin based sailing club. One of our club boats - "Silver Wind" - is a Sun Odyssey 35 with the same draught and has sailed happily in every location you've mentioned. Have a great time.

You might start to have problems in the Hebrides if you have an 18m draft. A 1.8m? Not in the slightest.

Enjoy. It’s a wonderful playground.

I can only speak for the Scottish waters and your SO35 will be great, small enough to get in all the good anchorages but big enough to be comfortable in all the passages. The Crinan Canal is where we keep our SO34 with a similar draft.

If you are planning to do a lot of anchoring on the West Coast, Antares Charts are worth the £20 or so to buy.
