There's a continuing but niche interest in celestial nav - or 'astro' - and there's a Facebook Public Group. For those who would rather have seen something similar here, but been disappointed, consider this....

Kurt Wege - Practical Celestial Navigation
I will be conducting a series of webinars in July for a local sailing club as follows. If anyone is interested, I can run them again - pm me.
Celestial Navigation...
...as basic as it can be.
4 webinars, no more than an hour and a half each, covering the basics, sextants, sights, sight reductions and plotting for position.
Session 1 – An introduction, what is it, how does it work, some navigation basics, sextants and how the work and how to take sights.
Session 2 – The Noon Sight – from a traditional perspective, the most important and only sight that you need to cross all oceans. How and when to take Noon Sights and sight reductions – they are the easiest in your CelNav toolkit to reduce.
Session 3 – Sun Sights – another important sight to know how to do. Again from a traditional perspective we will reduce using almanac and tables data – long form, all on paper.
Session 4 – Plotting for position. Now that we have reduced our sights we can plot on paper to finally know where we are – which is the point of it all, right?
The webinars will be conducted using Zoom, please indicate your interest and send me your email address for registration and notifications.
The webinars will be mostly presentation material with a little bit of doing some work yourself during each session.
Some materials will be emailed out ahead of time so that you can print them out for use in the webinar. Other materials that will help you to do the work will be identified for you to assemble.
There is no cost!!!
Sessions may be capped at 10 participants in case of bandwidth issues – it can always be run again if that is the case.
Somewhere in the above sessions, the nature and use of an Artificial Horizon will be discussed so that you can practice CelNav from your home or backyard if you can’t be on any body of water with a distant horizon.
If there is any interest, another session can be run on Stars, Planets and the Moon. There are also opportunities to do CelNav different ways – how older sailing ships did it, Lunars and modern techniques.
