Does anyone know the checklist for CE works as i'd like to do this work myself, but need to know what needs to be done.
Also,i know there has to be various stickers plastered all over the boat in case you invite an idiot on board who doesn't realise its dangerous to be in the water when the props running. Anyone know where i can purchase these from also.
Any help, much appreciated.

Not sure what mca is? but its the standard CE Certification Chris which is what i'm looking to acheive. Me and a mechanic friend are looking to carry out the work ready for it to be stamped,or at least carry out some work to save on the ridiculous cost.

The CE approval can only be made by "Notified Body", approved by BERR. You will find list of these on the BMF website. Production boats tend to be Type Approved, the NB approves a series of the same product. Imported used boats need to be CE marked, if not already done so intheir country of origin. Most Eu countries make more rigorous checks than the UK.

Depending on what the boat is and what level IE A B C D you are aiming for then the job can be just ticking a few boxes or if going for A B it includes stability calculations and other work and also requires an operators manual to be written.

If you contact the RYA and speak to the RCD department they will help you. Moreover the RYA are an approved notifiable body so if you enter into a deal with them you can do the work yourself under their control. If you find this too onerous then you can go with someone like CE proof who for a fee will do the job.

It is more than sticking some labels and in fact most of the label sticking is to comply with the BSS scheme for inland waterways.

Look up Recreational Craft Directive on Google RCD and you will find enough to keep you busy reading for a week.

Cheers for that useful advise. Yea i'm only looking for class c,and from what i've read,i thought i could do the work myself.Just need to know what to do. Is CE Proof a company, i'll look them up. I mean, how hard can it be,there's no water systems or any major electrical systems. Prices i've seen for only completing paperwork and issueing plate are from £850-£1250 + vat. I mean, what a rip off.Must be someone out there lookin for a cash job /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
