Hi,
Working in the cockpit area just now.
It has caves in the sides, they are in a bit of a state and are VERY thin plastic.
They are going to need some tittyfication.
My question is, as I have never been in a yacht with these things.
Are they useful.? what for.? what would be used instead.?

I was wondering whether to fill them in, or make something bettter to go in there.

thx
Howard

I've found them useful on my previous boat, holds binoculars, suntan lotion, boat keys, hh vhf radio, etc etc. I have a teak trim all raedy for my current boat - just need the plastic/grp bin - I intended to make a grp one but haven't got round to it yet.....

Brilliant things! Everything lives in the cave lockers.

Mine have: water bottles, sun lotion, spare bits of string, spilt wine wiping sponges, Oh and 50w deck speakers. and yes they have drain holes overboard.
In foul conditions they are the perfik place to keep your steaming mug of cocoa from getting too salty.

They were standard on the Barbican 33 and have nice teak surrounds.
Unfortunately they have plywood floors that require periodic re-painting.
