CAV plastic drain plug- to force or no?

My CAV filter unit has that naff nylon(?) Thumb drain plug and, you guessed it, its swollen and won't undo.

The glass shows a little water but not huge. Twisting it apart possibly when passing fuel would not make my day.

Any sage advice, other than throw it out?

All of the CVA filters I have been involved with have long since had the plastic drain plug replaced by a metal one. That gets rid of a potential problem.

Rip out the nylon plug and relace it with a bolt of the correct thread with a fibre washer.

I twisted mine off so replaced it with a bolt and fibre washer. Replacements are available at ASAP.

Alloy winged bolts are also easily available at low cost for these filters.

Your choice on whether to choose hex bolt or winged bolt.
