The ferry ran aground at Newhaven last night. Don't know any details but even worse, some poor sod got blown off Brighton pier - haven't been found yet. Shouldn't the pier have been closed given the atrocious weather conditions last night?

Two poor sods got killed by a falling tree the night before - shouldn't this government have cut all the trees down to prevent such tragedies?

Not me - never go near the place now; I went to prep school at Rottingdean, as soon as I left they turned it into a rest home for trades unionists.

Pauline, I read in the paper today that the weather is getting much worse, please play Mum and bring the children home if the weather gets too bad-need the parents for future university fees. Seriously though this report has got me worried, saw pics of Blackpool and Devon and the winds getting worse here! Beware!!

Brighton?

I'm not gender confused enough to go to Brighton, I hear there have been a lot of big puffs there lately, or was that strong winds?

Stupid!

Any fool knows that the government should have placed an exclusion zone around all trees and made those areas a national park and then charged an entrance fee. Only those on foot allowed anywhere near, all cars confined to central London.

Apart from slight disappointment boat wise, how was Singapore?

Weather & Boatwatch

I was wondering how you would get on after reading that Tommy's back in water. Someone else was off to the coast from Nottingham as well, can't remember who.

The two guys killed in the car were only a few miles from here, the details and photo are on a website www.ichuddersfield.???? something or other

Quite an appropriate weekend for them to advertise this on line boatwatch service don't you think?

Re: Stupid!

Singapore was half wet. It rained for about 3 days, but 80F rain is a lot better than UK rain. The country has changed so much since I was there in the 60's. No litter, no graffiti, the people are nice, taxis are cheap though goods in the shops are about the same price as here. The one strange thing was that I wanted to buy a SSB receiver - they are not sold there, it was suggested that this is because of government censorship of the radio waves!

Someone from Nottingham

Yes I did go down to the boat never slept at all Friday night, waves breaking over bathing platform, and thats in the Marina, came back lastnight for some sleep as forecast not too good. Best bit was Indian Fri eve and the lifeboat programme Fri eve don't get it up here, thought I might be on camera as we followed the Grand Turk into Poole last year, then saw it in Weymouth, they must have been following us ! glad to see that it;s not only us that make mistakes.

Don't think you can get accidently blown of the Brighton pier. Heard the helicopter searching but not heard any details of what happened.

Now you know there was nothing to worry about Suzanne. You got them back safe and sound. The worst winds of the weekend were taking place on our boat yesterday and the culprits were your dad, your sister and Mr B. Mr B had a good excuse, he's been off the booze for a whole month and started with a vengeance again on Friday 1 Feb - but as for your dad and your sister, I can only put it down to your mother's cooking ;-)
