These two don't seem entirely consistent.

Why not? Peacefully at 20 knots is what those cats are built for.

1) 'Don't know what they hit' versus 'they hit a container'.

2) 'Peaceful 20 knots' when double reefed in a F5?

Once again, what wouldn’t be peaceful about 20 knots speed if double reefed and only in a F5?

Yeah I'm familiar with that post - I think he/she misread the original report. It said "in 20 knots" not "at 20 knots". Anyways I'm still not convinced this boat hit anything. There is no damage on either hull that I can see - this is a carbon hull so hitting a container or even a whale would show something on the hull.

That post on another forum was based on a discussion with the posters brother in law, nothing to do with any media report.

possible / probable of course , tho i can not see any obvious damage on the upturned hulls,, only one board showing but that would be normal .

Would not seem to be anything. carastrophic
