I am looking for an easy way to heat my folksong 25 (GRP Folkboat) A small catalytic heater may be the answer what experience has anyone with these? How safe, what fuel options are there, preferably not gas if pos. Any other options, she is only small and will not require much to heat. Thanks

Yup, fairly simple chemistry if I can remember it:
1 C3H8 (propane) + 5 O2 (oxygen) = 3 CO2 (carbon dioxide) + 4 H2O (water)

If that makes sense without subscripts? 3 CO2 and 4 water molecules for every 1 of propane burnt, assuming sufficient oxygen. So 44 grammes of propane produces 72 grammes of water, however you burn it.

Hi any heater that burns fuel will give you the probs mentioned unless a flue is in the system. However I would recommend a tilley lamp that will provide heat and light from one source I have used these on a 27 ft boat and it works well. Regards John

Bought one at boat jumble sale two years ago for a tenner, plumbed a micro bore bayonet fitting into moulding beside engine hatch. Heater hung on two screws on hatch, plug into bayonet, nice blue flame,no smell or fumes, plenty of heat, warms entire cabin areas in five mins. A bit wary at first, but happy with it now. You will get condensation with any heat source in a cold space Occasionally check bayonet for leaks,as it is live when galley gas is on, an isolating tap would give peace of mind.
