Cat boats

So we know of boats that are cat rigged in the UK but are yet to find one that has the classic US cat hull attributes?

Might be that they are a hang-over from earlier times in the East Coast US that does not translate well over in Europe. Shallow waters and big centerplates, with nostalgia cutting in. Rigs that need reefing early and are not very closewinded.
Not sure that there is a case for them over here. Nice, but not practical?

Yes!! Or do I mean "No"?

The catboat my mate used to own, 'Felix', is definitely a catboat.

The Phil Bolger catboat on apolloduk is a catboat.

The boat 'Esther' at Woodbridge, has very much a catboat type hull.

But they're all smaller than what I think you're interested in.

It’s a Phil Bolger design but built in the UK as a “Lynx”. She’s pictured coming into Granton Harbour, Firth of Forth 2005.
Cold moulded hull. Bowsprit added by previous owner.
Sorry about the mainsail!
Sold her in 2009. I think she’s in the West of Scotland now.

Thanks for that, don't recognise the design. Need to fess up here... I am building a Bolger Micro, a cat yawl. Several différences, as it has some flare to the sides and is a bit sharper at the bow, with the transom leaning back a bit, so not quite so square as Phil put it out.
Hope to get in wet in the early summer..
