I love castles and recently visited Dover castle and travelled there in the boat. Re South and South West can anyone recommend any other castles that are on the coast as I am keen to form a list.

The castle to port as you enter Falmouth is worth a visit. Hurst castle at the Needles end of the Solent is good.

Pendennis to port, and St. Mawes to starboard. Both worth a visit. St. Mawes features(features) in numerous films and programmes. "The Buccaneers, Coast etc etc)

And of course, quite a few up this way.....................

Yea but mine has a nearbye clubhouse with bar plus shorepower for your boat...no scrabbling about with a reluctant outboard and your boat and dinghy will probably still be exactly where you left them apon your return :):):)

And not forgetting Yarmouth castle. Entrance by Salty's restaurant.

Also Weymouth has Nothe fort. Not technically a castle but very similar in feel.

Henry :)

In the Channel Islands:
Castle Cornet in St Peter Port Guernsey.
Elizabeth Castle in St Helier, Gorey Castle at Gorey and St Aubins Fort opposite St Aubins all in Jersey.
