Cast Iron Welding. Recommendations in Kent or Essex.

Contact Richard at richardkimberleyservices.co.uk. Expert welding engineer, regularly welds cast iron manifolds for vintage vehicles etc.

Need small patch put on a cast iron manifold.
For patching, low tempreture 'Sifbronze' works. I used it for re-attaching cast iron fins to motorcycle cylinders. A guy in the same business does it the exact same way but with silver solder nowadays. That might be better, even lower tempreture used. I ALWAYS preheated the casting on a 4KW industrial hotplate, ALWAYS bought the tempreture down slowly afterwards to avoid thermal shock.

Good Luck.

Thanks guys.
All sorted locally at Invicta Marine in Chatham Dock yard.
Over the decades they have sorted more props than I care to remember for me.

For those who might be in similar situation.
The problem.
The 25 year old turbine housing on the Yanmar turbo exhaust system had rotted out.

After investigating both about new  and used :unsure:replacement units decided to at least research the possiblity of repair.
General comments suggested that the chances of finding somebody prepared to even attempt the job was not promising but did locate a couple of one man bands in the next county who could do the job. This however ,meant going 10 rounds with the QE11 bridge and the M25.

Having had a local company salvage many propellers and also straighten a very bent "P" bracket, "declared beyond repair by just about every other repairshop " decided to see if they could help me out of the poo once again.
No problem .......Now sorted and all up and running again.
It not what you know.................
It was of course on the engine which was a absolute pig to work on.
