I want to replace the PINK  carpet in both cabins on my T36 and would like some advice on the best type of carpet to use please.
The current carpet seems to be foam backed.

Thanks

I replaced all of the old, original, beige carpet in my Antares last year - I went to a carpet supplier/fitter in Oban who also do boats, and what I ended up buying was a rubber backed commercial carpet (not beige), which has been ideal. They did have a few different types they said would suit, so your best bet would probably be to speak to a similar business near where your boat is kept.

ditto. I said mine had to be kid proof. So far so good and surprisingly comfortable to walk on as well. I was so impressed I had him make up some for the cockpit fixed with carpet studs.

Good point, we have inherited a wool carpet with ours, sheds badly, fills up the vacuum cleaner and leaves dust on all horizontal surfaces.
I did use a carpet with a hemp backing once. Got damp, smelt and then rotted in a season. I like the inside of the boat dry but when the weather is inclement and oilskins wet water does get down below.

Rubber back Bathroom carpet .............. I used it on my Alacrity .. and also on my Snapdragon 23 ....

Foam backed - was on the Snap 23 when I bought it but ended up with foam breaking up and clean-up !

Present boat had Hessian backed ... which of course was great - but hessian rotted and ended up as dust ...
I'm just waiting for the fwd cabin section to go as well - then I'm off to Carpet shop to buy a roll of Bathroom carpet ...

I have also looked at non-slip vinyl as used for Kitchens / Bathrooms ... the thicker softer kind ... then its waterproof ... kind to the feet and non-slip .. easy to clean.

In both of ours we fitted Flotex carpet flooring and after 7 & 9 years respectively of living aboard, both were still immaculate; when they get grubby just detergent and a scrubbing brush or steam/jet-wash clean on the pontoon. Not a cheap product, but offset by being very easy to self-fit, with no need for edge treatments and happily 'sets' to the shape of any sloping bits of floor
