Having just spent the whole of yesterday making paper templates of the cockpit floor, then transferring on to card before sending off to snapincarpets.com, it has occurred to me that I can't be the first and surely won't be the last to do this.

What happens to templates between carpet changes? Why don't we log them in to a library and allow others to borrow them?

My local Cranchi dealer informed me that the 'boys who do all the carpets' won't lend to anyone - fine, I'll buy carpet from them....but have you seen the carpet? Having spent 'a small house' on buying my boat I don't want it ruined with 'Scothbrite' flooring.

So I made the templates and will have fabulous, soft, fade and bleach resistant, non-slip backed, pressure washer safe, deep pile, 40oz carpet in a choice of a dozen or so colours hot from the good old U S of A before easter.

Mmmmmmm, perhaps I'm just a bit jaded. But it does make sense doesn't it?

We have just fitted a new carpet to our Endurance 39; I know what you mean about Scotchbrite.

When we get our boat back to Wales I am going to make a template of the carpet so that we can have one made when its time to change.

We are also looking at that Teak effect stuff ( cant remember its name )

What sort of price do they charge for the carpet ??

Can we have our own Cranchi owners club then?

Welcome Dyson,
Interesting name for the subject of carpets 'what! Hope you kept a sample set for the next time you wish to re-carpet. If not make sure you copy from the new set when they arrive, or else you know what........
Enjoy your new found comfort.

Im another Cranchi Endurance 39 owner. And guess what? Im in the carpet trade.
You dont need templates to make carpets for any boat or to use overpriced specialist. Buy the carpet and ask any carpet fitter to cut them in and take them away to have them whipped, this is all the 'specialist' will do but at a fraction of the cost.I would suggest using an impervious gel back carpet whick is waterproof and would estimate the total cost of carpet, fitting and whipping for an endurance 39 cockpit (4 pieces) to be around £200.00. Cranchi Owners Club.....Good idea

Hi Fellow Cranchi Owner

I am in the Aircraft Business, and at our main base we have a 'Trimming department' with lots of lovely carpet cutting machines, Overlockers and presstuds.

I am going to have a template made of our carpets, and then some chose some 'Nice Carpet'. ( obviously I wont be using the fully waterproof, fire retarded lovely blue coloured carpet we stock on large reels at work !!! )

Is there not a Cranchi owners club affiliated to Crest Marine ??

Rgds
